Learning Dreams works at schools to enhance student and parent learning.

Pratt School in Southeast Minneapolis continues to serve as the original partner school of Learning Dreams, along with our newest partner, Cherokee Heights Elementary in St. Paul.

"We need a program like Learning Dreams to get parents excited and help parents accomplish their own dreams so that they can help their children reach their dreams," says Eric Ziegler, a Pratt School counselor.

Former principal of Pratt School Ellen Murphy is also fan of Learning Dreams. "I could tell which students had been in Learning Dreams," she says.

School staff know that many of their students' families could use more support and resources to enrich their learning, and that this support really does make a difference in the lives of their kids, positively affecting their work in school.

But school faculty and staff often have their hands full simply maintaining a safe and creative school environment. Staff say they really appreciate the fact that Learning Dreams staff and volunteers get to know the families outside of school, especially when helping parents and kids discover their learning dreams, and if necessary, providing funds to help pay for fees and tuition. Learning Dreams staff often help bring parents to meetings at school as well as help support the school and the families in countless other ways.

The presence of Learning Dreams as part of the school community has served as a recruiting tool for school families who know they will have extra support.

As Pratt principal Ann Wade puts it, "Learning Dreams is an opportunity to reach parents at a different level."
